Caregiver/Personal Care Attendant 1
Job Summary
Responsible for providing personal assistance services to the client in accordance with the established service plan to enable the client to function in the home and community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Employee shall perform services as identified on the client care plan.
- Employee will report to Supervisor, on day of awareness, any significant changes in client's circumstances or condition, when recognized.
- Employee shall report emergency situations to appropriate individual in accordance with written policies immediately upon awareness.
- Employee will check that safety measures are taken on an on-going basis for client and attendant protection.
- Employee will complete time and attendance (telephony) process in accordance with agency instructions.
Qualifications
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must not be spouse or relative of client.
- Be neither legal nor foster parent of minor children who receive service.
- Must be free of communicable disease and open infectious wounds.
- Must have valid Washington state driver’s license and current automobile liability insurance, if motor vehicle use is within the course and scope of employment.
- Must have the ability to get to and from a scheduled job by alternate transportation if motor vehicle unavailable.
Physical/Mental/Essentials of the Job
- Must be able to stand and walk throughout the majority of shift on various surfaces in clients homes.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to thirty (30) pounds such as mop, buckets, groceries, and bags with trash.
- Must be able to push/pull up to various weights while performing tasks such as pushing client in wheelchair and transferring client.
- Must be able to climb stairs up to two (2) levels daily while making client visits.
- Must be able to balance while assisting clients to walk and climb stairs on a daily basis while performing client care activities.
- Must be able to bend, twist, use rotating motions and reach while performing various client care activities.
- Must be able to handle various client care supplies such as needles, dressing and equipment.
- Must be able to have corrected vision to chart and read clients records.

- Must be alert and able to identify hazards should one occur and have the ability to avoid them by reporting immediately or if directed to take corrective measures.
Overall environment
May be exposed to various heat, cold, wet/ humid conditions while traveling to various clients home. May be occupationally exposed to blood and other potentially infectious materials. Must be able to comply with all infection control procedures. May be confronted, from time to time with animals of the client. Client's homes may have atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, gases, and/or poor ventilation.
